Mar 19th Schedule all screwed up

My normal days off have just been taken away from me do to what happended the other day.

Now I have Friday and Saturday off instead of Monday & Tuesday.

I will have to work on getting my days back as I have a project I do on Sunday afternoons.

Mar 16th Called into work

Monday is normally my day off, but I got called in because

One person was in jail and another was sick.

Tomorrow I get to get up extra early and do the prep cooking instead of buffet.

Jan 16th 3 days off

Another week with only 4 days of work, both this week and next.

I am still waiting for my W-2’s so I can file my taxes and get the refund.

Jan 2nd Only 4 days of work this week

The sucky economy is even hitting truck stops, I only have 4 days of work this week.

At least it is supposed to stay warm so I will not run up the electric bill all that much.

Oct 10th Another week almost over with

We had another unannounced bus this morning 15 minutes before we normally shut down the buffet so we can clean and get lunch out, we ended up extending breakfast until 11:10 and then scrambled to quickly set up lunch for the people waiting for it.

Jul 18th Bullshit

I am glad that I no longer work at the Riverside, when I went to pick up last weeks paycheck I also got a notice that there was a mandatory meeting for all EDR workers @ 2PM.

Once again they show that they don’t give a shit about the graveyard employees needs by scheduling a meeting during the middle of the “night” for us, it would be like scheduling the meeting @ 2AM for the other shifts.

For me it would even be worse since I would have had to get up at 1PM to get there on time and also waste gas for the drive.

But since I don’t work there any more, I don’t care anymore.

Jul 14th Riverside Resort & Casino

The Riverside is probably one of the worst places to work in the Laughlin area, it has the lowest wages of any casino in existence and begrudges any money they do give you.

I pity anyone who has to work the graveyard shift as they seem to thing we are subhuman and do not need decent looking and good tasting food either, it is always stuff that has been sitting in the warmers for 5-8 hours before they bother to send it down to us.

Management could care less about the employees and would rather count their bonuses than actually improve the working conditions or food quality. They buy the cheapest quality product they can and then expect us to turn it into decent food. What usually happens is something that a pig would not even eat.

The method of cooking for the buffet is ridiculous, they cook all the food at the same time and then put it into a warmer until they need it or it gets sent down to the EDR. They need to learn how to cook in small batches so that the food is always fresh and appealing. They also need to figure out what the public want to eat as they have items that only a very small percentage of people ever eat.

I always wonder what would happen if the entire graveyard crew called off on one night, would the other shifts finally understand how much we do at night.

Nope, they just take us for granted!!

Jun 17th Still need at least another 6 people on graveyard

We are still chronically short on this shift and having to do everything with less and less people.

Jun 7th More people lost

We lost another 3 people on the graveyard crew last night, one came in drunk, one walked off the job and the other has been no-call no-show all week.

Give it a couple more weeks and we will be trying to run the kitchens with 3 people total.

May 31st Losing more employees

Found out today that we have lost the person who cooks bacon already, another one is out for 3 months (probably forever) and another one has given a 2 week notice.

We are already severly understaffed and now it will just get worse.
