Hello,

I discovered that antivirus program AVG has an effect on Boinc. During scheduled scan it locks certain neccessary files for read. The result is that Boinc and seti clients cannot write to files like work_unit.sah and client state. The result is that program is halted and boinc manager cannot access the client.

All WU in progress will fail.

On another occasion Boinc was unable to open client_state.xml for writing.
The solution is to exclude BOINC data folder from virus scan.

That is a known issue and we generally tell crunchers to exclude the BOINC data folder for that reason.

It is one of the first things I do when I install AV software.
