Title: Intel MAC unified Installer loaded; now BOINC says ownership/permissions wrong
Post by: BhagwanMike on August 03, 2011, 01:26:31 AM
Hi there!

As an utter programming newbie, I thought I had followed directions and loaded the MAC unified installer. When I hit my BOINC button, I get "BOINC ownership or permissions are not set properly;please reinstall BOINC. (Error code - 1201). I had installed under my user account, and probably shouldn't have, but it is the only user account, and when I put in my password, allows me privileges.  Could someone give a hand? Thanks.

Quickest remedy is to either find the BOINC manager installer or download it and hit install.

Hey there!

Well, I'll admit I was a bit skeptical, but I went ahead and reloaded BOINC, got the latest download, and fired it up. It seems to have
loaded the optimized apps, as my application details on the SETI site show anonymous platform. And it sure looks like the times have
come down sharply. I am running on a 2.4G MacBook Pro, and keeping the duty cycle to about 50%, as it gets pretty hot otherwise, but
I am tearing through VLARs and regular work units with mad abandon!

Thanks for the advice, and we'll keep on computing!
